As part of the mechanisms to enhance the exchange of ideas, awareness, recognition of and recent developments in artisanal fishing, the annual Sustainable Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environmental Awards (SFA) seek to celebrate East Africans who dedicate their time, expertise and passion to the sustainable use of our precious natural resources. Across 19 categories, this annual event celebrates and acknowledges regional champions working in fisheries as well as in nature protection, climate action and care for communities while supporting food security and poverty eradication, sustainable economies, sustainable societies, sustainable environment, gender equity and equality. Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization together with her key partners Sustainable Fisheries Initiative, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries together with the National and International organizing committee are working with key stakeholders including the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries and its agencies, Regional Fish Exporters Associations, Ministry of Water and Environment and its agencies, Fisher folk communities/associations and environmentalists to organize these awards. Please go ahead and cast your vote to recognize the unsung heroes of the sector, your will constitute 60% of final results.
